Big Walk Black Sphere Puzzles & Big Goodbye Route

After the Wall: silent sphere floors, the red chamber button, the water path, and Wave Goodbye.

Black Sphere & Big Goodbye Route

Major ending spoilers. Close this page if your party still wants a cold first finish.

The black sphere is the finale area after Black Tower & Wall. It is not the Black Tower and not the Wall. Inside, Big Walk removes the crutches you have relied on all island long — often muting proximity voice and washing out the bright player colors — so the last rooms test trust, pointing, and habits you built on the trail. Clearing the sphere leads to the water route, Wave Goodbye, and the Big Goodbye achievement. True ending cleanup lives on Endings and Purple Puzzles.

Prerequisites

CheckpointDone?
Red / Green / Yellow / Blue towersRequired
Black Tower → Black KeyRequired
Wall open (Big Wall)Required
Same host saveRequired — Host Saves
Optional side puzzles / ShinyNot required for Big Goodbye

If the Wall is still closed, stop reading and return to Black Tower. Hiking to the sphere early wastes an evening.

Approach after the Wall

Beyond the Wall is a long stretch with the sphere on the horizon. There is no second key to craft on that path. Walk as a group, keep lights and walkies ready, and resist splitting for meme photos until everyone is at the entrance. Enter from the front once the gate sequence for your save is open.

Inside the sphere — what changes

Community and review writeups agree on the design twist: many sphere rooms cut or mute voice, and player colors can wash out so you cannot casually shout names. That is intentional. Use:

  • Arm raises, pointing, and standing on the correct pad — Gestures
  • Taps, movement lines, and “follow me” body language
  • Pre-agreed left/right roles before you enter each floor

If your party enabled challenge skip, decide before the sphere whether you will use it. Many groups prefer to solve these rooms because they are the emotional peak of the hike.

Floor flow (spoiler-light)

Exact room order can feel like stacked floors above a white entry. Patterns repeat skills you already know:

  1. Split observation — one side sees symbols or glowing totems; the other presses matching switches. Spotters stand in front of the correct totem so partners can mirror.
  2. Relay buttons — left-side wall switches light right-side cues; call with gestures if voice is gone.
  3. Silent timing — hold or press together when a room asks for synchronized inputs.
  4. Final red chamber — a dark red room with a suspended mechanism / hanging orb and a nearby button. Press the last button to power down the mechanism and open the sphere.

Do not leave the red chamber early. Wait for the opening sequence; the world-state change is the sphere visibly opening.

Water route and Wave Goodbye

After the sphere opens:

  1. Exit outward — do not backtrack toward the main island as if the hike restarted.
  2. Follow the red route toward the building across / on the water.
  3. At the sign, use the Wave Goodbye prompt (keyboard often shows Q or E; consoles show the gesture binding).
  4. Press the entrance button and enter as a group.
  5. Credits / finale sequence unlocks Big Goodbye.

Sit on the couch / projector moments if your build offers them — many parties use that beat to decompress after silent rooms.

After Big Goodbye

Stay on the same host save. The large sphere often remains broken open as a world marker. Next goals:

  • Seven Purple Puzzles
  • Any skipped normal challenges
  • Final key → hidden room near spawn for Big Game — full checklist on Endings
  • Optional Shiny Makeover anytime tunnels exist

Party workflow for sphere night

  1. Confirm Wall open at the Map Room vocabulary check (“Tower vs Wall vs Sphere”).
  2. Fresh brains — do not chain Black Tower key cutting into sphere puzzles at 1 a.m. unless the lobby votes for it.
  3. Assign left/right roles before entry.
  4. Silence phones and Discord; the rooms punish external chat by making the game boring, not by bans.
  5. After credits, schedule a cleanup evening instead of forcing purples immediately.

Common confusion

ConfusionReality
“Sphere is Black Tower”Different landmark after the Wall
“Black Key opens the sphere door as a cutter puzzle”Key opens the Wall; sphere is beyond
“We need every purple first”Purples are after Big Goodbye
“New save after credits”Continue the same host save for Big Game
“Voice is bugged in the sphere”Mute / washout is usually the designed finale

The black sphere is the thank-you note written as a puzzle. Arrive with the Wall open, solve without crutches, wave goodbye, then come back for the longer 100% walk.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Big Walk questions.

How do I enter the black sphere?

Finish Black Tower, open the Wall with the Black Key, then walk to the sphere and enter from the front.

Why can’t we hear each other inside?

Many sphere rooms intentionally mute or restrict proximity chat. Use gestures, positioning, and pre-agreed roles.

What is the last step inside the sphere?

In the dark red chamber, press the final button on the hanging mechanism to open the sphere, then follow the water route.

How do we trigger Big Goodbye?

After the sphere opens, follow the red route to the ending building, use Wave Goodbye at the sign, and enter together.

Is Big Game inside the sphere?

No. Big Game is the 100% ending after purple puzzles and cleanup on the same save.
