Before you set out

A short prep loop that prevents the most common launch-day mistakes.

  1. 1

    Pick a reliable host

Progress stays with the host. Choose someone who can start every session, then share a Join Code from our Crossplay Hub when friends play on other platforms.

  2. 2

    Learn proximity chat first

Big Walk is built around distance-based voice and text. Read Proximity Chat before defaulting to Discord so puzzles that mute or muffle you still feel fair.

  3. 3

    Assign communication tools

Inventory space is precious. Use the Tools Hub and Party Prep Planner so someone always carries a walkie-talkie, a flare, and a spotting tool.

  4. 4

    Lock in controls and gestures

Independent arms and pointing matter as much as movement. Skim Controls and Gestures & Arms before your group splits up.

  5. 5

    Plan routes, then wander

The island rewards both maps and curiosity. Bookmark Island Navigation and Challenge Tips so your party can recover when you get gloriously lost.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers to the most common Big Walk questions.

Is Big Walk a solo game?

No. It is an online co-op adventure for 2 to 12 players with no traditional single-player campaign. Gather friends first using the Multiplayer Hub and Join Codes.

Does Big Walk have crossplay?

Yes across Steam (PC/Mac), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Same-platform friends can join from friends lists; mixed parties use Join Codes. Details live in Crossplay Platforms.

Which languages are supported?

This wiki is available in English, Français, Deutsch, Español. English is the default root path; other languages use a short URL prefix.

Should we use Discord while playing?

House House designs puzzles around in-game proximity chat. Outside voice apps bypass that friction. Prefer the systems explained in Proximity Chat and keep Discord for planning between sessions.

Who keeps the save file?

The host. If that player is offline, the group cannot continue the same journey. Read Host Saves before you commit to a multi-evening walk.
