Blue Tower & Train Guide

The Blue Tower restores Big Walk’s island train — a scenic one-way loop that is slower than the chairlift but excellent for jokes, sightseeing, and moving a loud lobby without another cliff march. Finish Blue before the late Black Tower route even if your friends barely ride afterward; the campaign expects all four colored towers. This guide covers Blue’s five-Head loop, the easy-to-miss cutter problem, train boarding rules, and Big Ride.

Arrive via Yellow’s tunnels or Green’s chairlift when you can. Overview: Tower Order.

Blue route checklist

  1. Reach the Blue region with a named regroup point (tower receiver, not “the tracks”).
  2. Confirm the five-slot Blue receiver before scattering.
  3. Collect five Heads from practical nearby challenges.
  4. Shape the blank Blue key through every cutter — hunt the easy-to-miss station if the key still looks unfinished.
  5. Insert the finished key at the main train station unlock (not a random parked carriage).
  6. Wait until trains are actually looping, then board a moving train for Big Ride.
  7. Learn conductor pause / timetable boards before treating the railway as logistics.

What the train is good for

Blue’s unlock is fun first, efficient second. Trains loop in a single direction and do not behave like fast-travel menus. Missing your stop is a feature. Still:

  • Large parties can relocate while talking
  • Landmark spotting from carriages helps new navigators
  • Timetable boards at stations show how far the next train is
  • A conductor can hold a lever in the first carriage to pause briefly

Until the network runs, treat rails as a landmark only — the same way early Green uses the inactive station as a cache.

Blue challenges without full spoilers

Blue-area rooms often include symbol matching, timed locked rooms, climbing routes, blindfold courses, and charades-style communication. For charades, the actor should use large repeated motions and the guessing group should agree on one answer before pressing anything. Detailed tactics: Challenges.

Same universal rules:

  • Puzzle complete ≠ Head submitted
  • Any valid Head can feed Blue if a local room stalls
  • Consolidate rewards before equipment-heavy rooms
  • One key carrier through the full cutter chain

The easy-to-miss cutter

Blue soft-locks more parties than Green because one cutter sits off the obvious loop. If the key still looks blank-ish, the station ignores it, or you have “done four cutters,” backtrack with the arrow logic:

  • Return to the latest successful cutter
  • Re-read its arrow including up/down elevation
  • Search high platforms and behind the tower structure before inventing a new destination
  • Do not start mashing railway levers with a half-cut key

Community walkthroughs emphasize finishing all five Blue cutters near the tower before walking the finished key northwest to the main station unlock.

Activate the train the right way

Five Heads → blank key → five cuts → finished key at the main train station controls. Wait for carriages to begin their loop. Pressing inactive platform toys before that point wastes time.

Hub checkpoint:

Blue key completed → Train moving → group can board a carriage.

If you reached the station but nothing moves, you are still on Blue key progression — return to cutters, do not invent a second railway quest.

Unlock Big Ride

Big Ride requires boarding a train that is actually running. Standing beside a parked novelty carriage before activation does not count. After activation:

  1. Watch the approach using station timetable boards
  2. Jump aboard while it is moving
  3. Remain aboard long enough for the achievement popup
  4. Use the conductor lever only after everyone who needed the trophy is onboard

Missed the stop? Ride the loop. It is one-directional — plan jokes accordingly.

After Blue: late game handoff

With Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue complete, the island’s transport network is online. Next progression shifts to the Black Tower → Wall → black sphere sequence for Big Goodbye, then purple post-game work for Big Game. Read Black Tower & Wall and Endings before mixing post-game cleanup into a tired train ride.

Use the Map Room flags to catch skipped normal puzzles while you still have energy — trains and tunnels make cleanup less brutal.

Troubleshooting

ProblemFix
Station dead after five HeadsFinish all Blue cutters; find the missed arrow station
Trains parked foreverInsert finished key at main station unlock, then wait
Big Ride missingBoard a moving train after activation
Party stranded mid-loopRide to next station; use flares if someone fell off
Confused with Green’s stationGreen key → chairlift; Blue key → train

Blue night workflow

  1. Confirm all four colored towers status at the Map Room.
  2. Approach Blue via tunnel or chairlift with a walkie pair.
  3. Bank Heads deliberately; leave charades for when everyone is awake.
  4. Sweep cutters as a group — assign one “arrow reader.”
  5. Activate the train together; rotate Big Ride seats if needed.
  6. Stop for the night or pivot to Black Tower with fresh focus.

Blue Tower is the last colored convenience unlock. Start the train, take the scenic lap, then get serious about the wall.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Big Walk questions.

What does Blue Tower unlock?

The island train loop. Insert the finished Blue key at the main train station after completing all cutters.

How do I unlock Big Ride?

Activate the train so carriages are moving, then board a running train. Parked pre-activation cars do not count.

Why won’t my Blue key start the train?

Usually a missed cutter. Return to the latest successful cutter and follow its arrow, including vertical paths.

Is the train faster than the chairlift?

Usually no. The train is scenic and social; the chairlift is the stronger travel upgrade for most routes.

Do we need Blue before the ending?

Yes. All four colored towers come before the late Black Tower, wall, and Big Goodbye sequence.
