Big Walk Black Tower, Wall & Sphere Route

Separate Black Tower, Wall, and black sphere — finish the late key, open the gate, then hand off to endings.

Black Tower, Wall & Sphere Route

Major late-game spoilers. Close this page if your party still wants a cold push into the finale.

After Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue, Big Walk’s late route is easy to scramble because three landmarks share dark branding: Black Tower, the Wall, and the black sphere. They are consecutive stages, not synonyms. This page keeps them separate so your lobby stops arguing about whether “we already did the black thing.”

Ending cinematics, Wave Goodbye, purple puzzles, and Big Game live on Endings. Trophy triggers: Achievements.

Late-game landmarks at a glance

LandmarkWhat it is for
Black TowerLate progression hub where you obtain the Black Key
Wall / large gateDestination for the Black Key — opening it unlocks Big Wall
Black spherePost-wall finale area with final puzzles before Big Goodbye

If the Wall is still closed, you are still on Black Tower progression. If the Wall is open, stop hunting Black Tower steps and switch to the sphere / ending route.

Prerequisites before Black Tower night

  • All four colored towers complete (map, chairlift, tunnels, train online)
  • Same Host save that owns those unlocks — Host Saves
  • Party agreement that spoilers are allowed tonight
  • Walkie-talkies, lights, and a Map Room check for leftover required progression pieces

You do not need every optional side puzzle for Big Goodbye. Full normal + purple cleanup matters for Big Game afterward.

Black Tower progression (hub-level)

Black Tower uses the same big ideas as colored towers — cooperative challenges, physical rewards, and a key that must be finished before the world reacts — but the tone shifts: vision sequences, stricter coordination, and less comedy forgiveness when someone drops the key.

Practical lobby rules:

  1. Meet at the Map Room and confirm the Wall is still closed.
  2. Assign one permanent Black Key carrier once it appears.
  3. Keep extra players behind the carrier on narrow routes.
  4. Do not throw or kick the key “for fun” near cliffs or water.
  5. Treat unfinished cutters / vision steps as incomplete even if the tower “looks done.”

Exact synchronized triggers and vision puzzle solutions vary with player-count worlds and change as patches land — if a step fails, verify everyone is on the same host build (1.4.8+ recommended for voice clarity) and that nobody is still on an old session. See Version 1.4.8 and Known Issues.

Use the Black Key at the Wall

The Black Key belongs at the Wall, not at the distant sphere. Opening the Wall is its own celebration (Big Wall) and a hard checkpoint:

Black Key finished → Wall opens → late route becomes sphere-facing.

If your key does nothing at the Wall, you are early — return to unfinished Black Tower steps rather than hiking to the sphere in hope. If the Wall is already open and someone still carries a “special black key,” re-read the ending guide; you may already be past this stage.

Hand off to the black sphere

After the Wall opens, travel to the large black sphere in the distance. This is where final main-route puzzles live. Completing them leads through the water route and Wave Goodbye into Big Goodbye. Those beats are owned by Endings so this page does not duplicate cinematic steps.

Hub diagnosis:

  • Wall closed → stay on Black Tower / Black Key
  • Wall open, sphere unfinished → ending guide
  • Big Goodbye done → purple puzzles + cleanup on the same save for Big Game

Transport tips for the late hike

Use the infrastructure you already built:

  • Chairlift for elevation changes toward dark landmarks
  • Tunnels for flat connectors when carrying the key
  • Train for scenic repositioning if the lobby needs a morale lap
  • Flares when the group splits at the Wall approach — Signaling

Night lighting matters more here than on Red night one. Assign a light before anyone “quickly scouts ahead.”

Common late-route confusion

ConfusionReality
“Black Tower is the ending”No — Wall and sphere still follow
“Sphere is Black Tower”Different landmark after the Wall
“We need every purple puzzle now”Purples are post–Big Goodbye
“Start a new save after credits”Continue the same host save for Big Game
“Train must be ridden to finish”Blue must be unlocked; constant riding is optional

Party workflow

  1. Confirm four colored towers at the Map Room.
  2. Read this page + endings FAQ aloud for thirty seconds so vocabulary matches.
  3. Clear Black Tower → Wall as one focused session if possible.
  4. Stop after Big Wall if people are tired — sphere night deserves fresh brains.
  5. After Big Goodbye, schedule a cleanup evening rather than forcing purples at 2 a.m.

Black Tower is a hinge, not the whole door. Separate Tower, Wall, and sphere, and your finale stops feeling like three groups playing three different games.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Big Walk questions.

Is Black Tower the same as the black sphere?

No. Black Tower yields the Black Key. The Wall consumes that key. The black sphere is the post-wall finale area.

What achievement opens with the Wall?

Opening the Wall unlocks Big Wall. Big Goodbye comes later after the sphere route.

Do we need every puzzle before Black Tower?

Not for Big Goodbye. Prioritize required late progression. Full cleanup matters when chasing Big Game after the credits.

Where do purple puzzles fit?

After Big Goodbye on the same save. See the Endings guide for the seven purple puzzles and final key.

What if our Black Key does nothing?

Confirm you are at the Wall and that Black Tower progression is actually finished. Do not skip ahead to the sphere hoping it accepts the key.
