Seven Purple Puzzles Guide

Post-game spoilers. Close this page if your party has not finished Big Goodbye yet.

Big Walk’s seven purple puzzles are the dedicated post-credits challenge layer. They unlock after the main ending, sit on an eastern ridge past a purple tunnel, and each award a purple gourd. Clearing all seven — plus every skipped normal puzzle — feeds the final key and Big Game route on Endings.

Pair with Game Length for evening planning, Achievements for trophy triggers, and Challenges for spoiler-light communication habits.

How to unlock the purple ridge

  1. Finish the main campaign through the black sphere and unlock Big Goodbye on the same host save.
  2. Reload that world. Purple markers appear on the large map.
  3. Ride the Green chairlift toward the far eastern ridge station.
  4. Look right of the station for the purple tunnel and enter.
  5. All seven challenges sit beyond that tunnel on the ridge.

Some groups reach the ridge early via unconventional paths. Completing a purple early can still register later — but the reliable plan is finish Big Goodbye first, then return.

Spoiler-light tactics (not full step dumps)

Wait 30 Minutes House: Enter, start the yellow timer if needed, and wait the full thirty minutes. Players can leave and return. Easiest purple — park it while the group snacks.

Golf: The ridge hole has no local ball. An arrow points back toward the Red golf course. Carry that ball across the island, onto the chairlift east, through the purple tunnel, and into the hole. Hand the ball like a conveyor near cliffs. Do not leave it alone on a moving chair — it will ride the full loop.

Many Lights Everywhere: One player watches bulbs / a signal button; the other faces yellow wall panels. Pre-agree a numbered zone map (for example sixteen clusters), flash zone numbers first, then refine with clock-face directions.

9 Speakers (no talk): Nine sounds, muted communication. Pre-build a gesture or window-tap code. Put the best ear on listening duty. Layout speakers into memorized rows before starting.

9 Symbols (no talk): Same mute framework with visual plates — usually faster than speakers. Line plates on the floor, number them, gesture the match.

36 Drawings: Spread all plates. Describe solid vs outline, petal counts, stacking order. When the green win state fails, revisit only uncertain matches instead of full resets.

Platforming, But Do It Fast: Timed climb across colored tiers with an egg timer. Unequip backpacks so straps do not catch. Stage a player on the first roof before starting the clock. Throw the timer forward and boost partners up steps deliberately.

Party prep for purple night

  • Keep the same host who owns Big Goodbye — Host Saves.
  • Bring walkie-talkies even for “mute” rooms — outside partners still need coordination — Walkie-Talkie.
  • Agree gesture meanings before speakers/symbols rooms — Gestures.
  • Confirm Version 1.4.8+ so quiet mics are not recreating launch-week pain — Version 1.4.8. Steam has the patch; console (including Switch 2) rollout may lag — check Known Issues.

After all seven purples

Purples alone are not always enough for Big Game. Return to the Map Room, clear leftover normal puzzles, deliver physical rewards, then check the final-key position near the beginning. If the key pad is empty, something is still unfinished — do not spam early doors. Full sequence: Endings.

Optional cosmetics like Shiny / Big Makeover are separate from purple cleanup.

Clear the ridge on purpose, keep the host save continuous, and treat purples as a communication final exam — not a speedrun checklist.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Big Walk questions.

When do purple puzzles unlock?

After Big Goodbye on the same host save. Ride the eastern chairlift ridge and enter the purple tunnel right of the station.

Do we need all seven for Big Game?

Yes for the purple set — and you still need leftover normal puzzles plus the final key sequence described on the Endings page.

Can we do purples in any order?

Yes. Map markers track completion per challenge.

Which purple is hardest?

Many parties struggle most with the nine-speaker mute sound match. Agree signals before starting.

Is Shiny part of the purple set?

No. Shiny / Big Makeover is a separate tunnel cosmetic route.
